When was the Warzone 2 DMZ release date? While Activision may no longer be actively updating its extraction-based DMZ mode, it’s still worth knowing more about it and what could have been on PlayStation and Xbox.
Infinity Ward’s take on extraction-based FPS games like Escape From Tarkov, DMZ has you loot, shoot, and escape. But when was Warzone 2 DMZ released? And what did it look like at launch?
Warzone 2 DMZ release date
The Warzone 2 DMZ release date was November 16, 2022 on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. This is the same day that the revitalized battle royale launched. DMZ continued to receive new content and support up until the first season of Call of Duty MW3 launched in December 2023.
DMZ is a fully open-world narrative-focused extraction mode where squads complete missions for factions, take on objectives and engage with enemy players or AI to search for valuable items and escape.
The Call of Duty team announced that active support for the mode would end with the arrival of MW3 Season 1, but would remain playable via the Warzone section of CoD HQ.
“The mode will not be available or interact directly within Modern Warfare III or Call of Duty: Warzone which means that progression and any new Modern Warfare III or Warzone content, including Battle Pass or store bundles, will not sync or carry back into this DMZ mode,” the developer said at the time. “Also, DMZ progress will not apply to new Battle Passes beginning with Season 1.”
