Call of Duty: Modern Warfare dev confirms regular Gunfight will return

It turns out Ninja isn't a fan of the mode either.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Infinity Ward is trying to keep the online multiplayer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fresh by changing the game modes available week by week, but it appears not all of the changes are appreciated by some of the big names in the industry. Yesterday, a game designer confirmed that the regular Gunfight mode was coming back after Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins complained that he didn’t like the O.S.P. mode.

Gunfight O.S.P. has the same rules as the standard 2v2 mode, except all four players start without weapons. The mode was originally tested in the Modern Warfare beta, and has made only a handful of returns to the game, but even so, it appears Ninja, like many others, isn’t a fan.

“I feel like Gunfight was one of the best game modes to grace FPS in the last decade,” he says on Twitter. “It’s really unfortunate that Activisition is making so many ridiculous changes to the game mode.”

David Mickner, a multiplayer designer for Infinity Ward, confirms that the regular mode will return, but they will continue to put it in the rotation for multiplayer.

He also suggests we’ll see a new variation of Gunfight in the future too, although it’s unclear at this time what the rules of engagement for this will be.

Thanks, Charlie Intel.
