If you’re wondering what Modern Warfare 2’s Prisoner Rescue mode is all about, you’re in the right place. This is one of the brand new game modes available in Infinity Ward’s new Call of Duty game and it looks like it’s going to be a permanent feature for the forseeable future. But, this one isn’t all about getting the most kills. So, it’s worth reading on to work out how it works.

But, before we explain, you should make sure you’re using the best settings for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer – and that you’re setting yourself up for success by using one of the best assault rifles or the best SMGs in the game. These are going to help you rank up fast and hit that all-important max level cap in-game.

Modern Warfare 2 Prisoner Rescue mode explained

In Modern Warfare 2’s Prisoner Rescue mode, players will need to work together to locate hostages or work to stop their extraction. Much like Search and Destroy, or the new Knockout mode, this is a no-respawn mode where team revives are enabled. So, you’re going to have to work together to tackle the unique situation before you and make sure you keep the prisoner – and yourself – alive.

In a typical game of Prisoner Rescue, you need to find two hostages (as the Attackers) and carry them to an extraction point for exfil. Each hostage is worth 100 points and you have to earn 500 points in total to win the match. As Defenders, each hostage you stop the Attackers rescuing is worth 50 points – and the teams switch sides with each passing round. So, it’s really all to play for when it comes to both sides of this objective-based mode.
