Artifact 2.0 beta is already live, but it’s a very exclusive party

Without an invite, you're going to have to wait

Artifact, Valve’s collectable card game, is being re-released after a less than fruitful first pass. Although the game came out to good reviews across a range of critics, it quickly lost much of its player base, with many citing monetisation and progression as issues. Valve decided that instead of scrapping the game, a rework was in order and now Artifact 2.0 beta is in the hands of a select few.

The beta invites have been sent out much to the delight of players who are now testing out a new version of the CCG that has appeared in their Steam libraries. The beta isn’t just a treat for some players, but it is kitted out for gamer guinea pigs to tell Valve of any issues that might arise.

According to Valve’s short and sweet post on Steam, this first round is focussing on usability and bugs reported through the game. Once those are stable we can expect more invites and info on the next steps.

Right now the game is only supported in English but more languages will become available throughout the course of the beta too until finally, we get to see the finished product.

Who knows how Artifact 2.0 will fair. If Valve plays its cards right (get it?) fans will stick around this time to enjoy the game for years to come.
