MrBeast is the top YouTube creator in the US for 2020

It’s been a trying time for just about everyone this year, but over on YouTube, content creators have been thriving. The platform’s gaming division has just had its best ever year, and there are a few familiar faces topping the viewership charts.

So, as YouTube Gaming just clocked up 100 billion hours watched, who’s on the list? Well, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson certainly is in one way or another. In the US, MrBeast sits at the top of the creators chart in the US and comes in at number two in the UK chart. This is based on subscriber count, but when it comes to viewing figures, he also comes out on top.

That’s because his video on the world’s biggest firework has been classed at the fifth top trending video in the US, while his influencer Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament has been rated as the seventh top trending video in the US.

He’s not the only gaming-focused content creator to make an appearance on YouTube’s end of year wrap up blog, though. MrBeast is joined by Minecraft speedrunner ‘Dream’, high-pitched Fortnite creator ‘Tiko’, and Aussie Lannon ‘LazarBeam’ Eacott on the US top creators list.

Dream and LazarBeam also make an appearance on the UK top creators list, but this time joined by Fortnite pro Harley ‘Fresh’ Campbell and the Sidemen gang. It’s worth pointing out that Sidemen member and London Royal Ravens co-owner Vikram ‘Vikkstar123’ Singh Barn has been classed as a breakout creator in the UK this year too.

Gaming is clearly a big part of YouTube no matter where in the world you are. And with the platform boasting 40 million active gaming channels this year, creators are certainly finding an audience online.
