The second wave of Xbox Game Pass June 2024 games has finally been revealed, and there’s a big, sporting surprise in store for soccer fans everywhere. Though the Euro 2024 soccer championship is now truly underway, FC 24 is slide tackling into the subscription service ahead of the round of 16. Additionally, if you like digging up turf as much as you like sliding along it, then you’ve got a solid selection in store on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
EA recently launched a special Euro 2024 mode for FC 24, bringing the spirit of the European championship to one of the best soccer games out there. What’s more, it looks like you’ll also be able to snag a free pack for its wallet-crushing Ultimate Team mode. Though I would advise steering clear from the Ultimate Team money trap – especially this close to the end of the game’s shelf life – it’s worth cracking the pack open as a little treat (you’ve earned it, probably).
In my 8/10 FC 24 review I note that FC 24 “retains everything that’s kept people coming back to EA’s soccer series for the past 30 years, from its slick arcade gameplay to the popular wallet-wrecking Ultimate Team mode – both made better this time around by PlayStyles and Evolutions respectively. While EA doesn’t hit the back of the net with every tweak and introduction, it’s clear the studio is trying to make good on its new-found freedom.” The sports game is a natural contender for our best Game Pass games list, and one you absolutely should enjoy with friends throughout the international competition.
Elsewhere in wave two of the new Xbox Game Pass games we have farming sim My Time at Sandrock, as well as some of the best Metroidvania games in the form of both SteamWorld Dig installments. Whether you’re prospecting above ground or searching for treasures below it, your soccer cleats won’t be the only boots you’ll be getting muddy over the coming weeks and months.
