Warhammer 40K: Boltgun

Warhammer 40K: Boltgun might not look like much at first glance but it’s an incredibly charming FPS that takes all the best bits from classic shooters. Set in the absurd Warhammer 40K universe, Boltgun puts you in the shoes of a Space Marine – an armor-clad superhuman warrior-monk. Sounds cool, right?

With its colorful sprite explosions, great level design, and action-packed gameplay, it’s the perfect ode to 90s retro shooters and will hit the spot until the next Doom game comes around. If it clicks with you, there’s a good chance you’d rank it among the best FPS games.

Lightyear Frontier

Have you ever wanted a farming sim like Stardew Valley with mechs? Well, Lightyear Frontier is just that.

Combining the oddly satisfying nature of Stardew Valley’s farming with technology and machinery from the likes of PC-exclusive titles like Satisfactory, Lightyear Frontier offers a unique take on the farming sim genre. You’ll work to build your own homestead as you expand your farming enterprise, making use of deep crafting systems, mech upgrades, and resource harvesting as you do so. As an open-world game, you can explore its fertile lands as you seek to clean up its pollution and solve an ancient mystery.

While it’s only launching in early access, it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.

Diablo 4

With Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard now done and dusted, the first wave of its legendary titles is making its way to Game Pass, kicking off with Diablo 4.

As the latest and greatest in this iconic series, you’ll battle it out against demons as you experience its surprisingly strong story and level up your chosen Diablo 4 class. Boasting best-in-class combat, it’s hard not to have fun cleaving through monsters and perfecting your build. Don’t let its live-service, level-grind nature fool you, Diablo 4 is one of the best RPG games out there thanks to its palpable atmosphere and excellent writing.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged

At a glance, you wouldn’t think that Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is one of the best racing games of recent times. Well, it is.

Sure, it’s targeted at quite a young audience, but older players will also have a great time with this one thanks to some Hot Wheels toy nostalgia and, most importantly, some truly epic and addictive arcade racing. Slides, jumps, boosts, and loop-the-loops make for some of the most dynamic on-track action we’ve played in years.

Our glowing Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 review gave this a well-deserved 9/10 and was one of our biggest surprises of 2023. Definitely give this one a try.

Next month’s new Game Pass games

There are already seven games that we know are coming to Xbox Game Pass in April. They are:

  • Ark Survival Ascended (Xbox Series X|S, Cloud, PC) – April 1
  • F1 23 (Cloud) – April 2
  • Superhot: Mind Control Delete (Cloud, Console, and PC) – April 2
  • Botany Manor – April 9 (Console)
  • Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes – April 24 (Console)
  • Another Crabs’s Treasure – April 25 (Console)
  • Manor Lords – April 26 (PC)

April’s new additions are already looking super strong, with the standout certainly being Ark Survival Ascended. Not only is it one of the best survival games, its arrival on Game Pass seems to be tactical, given that the Ark 2 release date is expected later this year.
