World of Warcraft: Shadowlands finally has a release date

It'll be dropping next month...

Brace yourself World of Warcraft fans because Shadowland finally has a release date – and it’s coming sooner than expected.

Blizzard made the announcement at Gamecom’s Opening Night Live show, shortly after airing the first episode of its new animated short, Afterlives. The expansion, which was widely believed to be coming much later this year, will actually be dropping on October 27.

In Shadowlands, players will get to explore another realm in the World of Warcraft universe, shortly after Sylvanas Windrunner destroys the Lich King’s Helm of Domination. By working for four different Covenants, players will help rebuild the Shadowlands from the ground up. While players help all four Covenants at some point in time, you will have to pick one to side with towards the end of the expansion.

Alongside the release date, Blizzard also aired a new trailer for Shadowlands. You can watch that here:

The expansion will bring new raids for experienced challengers and guilds, so expect to see more World First attempts soon.
