Twitch has officially announced a fully digital event called GlitchCon, and you won’t have to wait long to attend. This year’s lockdown-appropriate convention will take place on November 14, and has been organised to replace the platforms physical TwitchCon conferences that are held annually.
The May TwitchCon Amsterdam and the September TwitchCon 2020 events were both cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, but with them being such big dates in the streaming calendar, it’s no surprise to see Twitch host an online version. Twitch had teased that something big was coming earlier in the week, when its controversial Golden Kappa emote stunt was used to make fans aware of the date: November 14. The teaser also included the line: “there’s a place where all the Kappas are golden,” and it seems that GlitchCon is that place.
Twitch is yet to provide full details on what to expect from GlitchCon, but if it’s anything like TwitchCon, you can expect it to feature various popular streamers, cosplayers, and artists. TwitchCon usually gives fans a chance to meet their favourite content creator, so it will be interesting to see how Twitch pulls off any digital meet and greets.
