Controversial streamer Tyler ‘tyler1’ Steinkamp has said he really wants esports team G2 to lose during the League of Legends World Championship 2019.
In a stream, the personality said that while he likes the team and says the players are “good dudes,” he wants them to lose at the tournament purely so their fans are annoyed.
G2 Esports has made it through to the final of the 2019 League of Legends World Championship and will be playing FunPlus Phoenix at Paris’ AccorHotels Arena this weekend. The winner will walk away with 13.5 per cent of the total prize pool, which currently stands at over $2.25m, although this is expected to increase.
“I have never wanted a team to lose more than I want G2 to lose Worlds. I’m not salty, trust me,” Steinkamp says, convincingly.
“Good for them, really. Good for G2. Really proud of them. I don’t know how to put this into words calmly. I just really want them to lose very bad. I don’t care about the players. I just want them to lose so that everybody who is excited about them winning Worlds has a s****y day. I’ve met the G2 players before, I like them they’re good dudes, but I just want all their fans just to be mad. That’s all I want. G2 players: don’t this personally. I just want the fans to be p****d.”
You can find out if Tyler1 gets the result he wants when G2 take on FunPlus Phoenix on November 10.
