The song for League of Legends Worlds has finally been released

Even though this year's LoL Worlds song was dropped late, it was worth waiting for

League of Legends Worlds 2018

October 8, 2019 Phoenix featuring Cailin Russo and Chrissy Costanza has been confirmed as the official song of Worlds 2019.

The League of Legends World Championships is watched by millions of people every year. It’s full of incredible gameplay, tantalising storylines, and memorable moments, but fans were kept waiting for the official anthem this year.

For the last four years, Riot has released a new song to celebrate LoL Worlds before the tournament starts. In the past we’ve had huge hits from Imagine Dragons, Nicki Taylor, Zedd, Against The Current, and The Glitch Mob, Mako and The World Alive, but fans had to wait a lot longer for this year’s banger. After a few weeks of radio silence, Riot finally released the song on October 8 to tie in with the end of Play-Ins stage.  And it's fair to say Phoenix, which features Cailin Russo and Chrissy Costanza,  is going down well.

Featuring some of the top players from the League of Legends scene, the video, combined with the dramatic lyrics, really sets the scene for the stacked competition ahead. Phoenix is all about overcoming your fears, and what better stage to do that than at Worlds? You can watch the full music video here:

But the weeks leading up to the song release were unbearable for some. Tyler ‘FionnOnFire’ Erzberger, who was rick rolled earlier this week while looking for the song, spent several hours scouting for answers at the tournament. Although he didn’t get very far, he did manage to get Riot staff to confirm that the song was meant to drop earlier.

This delay to this year’s Worlds anthem makes it the only anthem to be dropped during the tournament. It’s a good job that Phoenix is an absolute tune though, as we’re not sure fans would have forgiven Riot otherwise.
