League of Legends superstar Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok will be making his return to T1’s starting lineup for today’s LCK match against world champion DWG KIA. This will be T1’s first time playing against a team coached by Kim ‘kkOma’ Jeong-gyun since his departure from the organisation in late 2019.
Faker started the 2021 LCK split on the bench, with T1 opting to field Lee ‘Clozer’ Ju-hyeon for its eventual victory over Hanwha Life Esports. The immensely talented 17-year-old picked up the MVP award for his game three performance on Irelia, which featured him solo-killing Jeong ‘Chovy’ Ji-hoon under the enemy midlaner’s tower. However, now coming up against the best team in the world, it seems T1 once again wishes to change tact.
This is also a significant occasion for DWG KIA head coach kkOma, who will be facing his former org for the first time since leaving to join LPL side Vici Gaming at the end of the 2019 season. Having joined DWG in November 2020, the game’s most decorated coach has been quick to ensure the team stays in winning ways. DWG swept the 2020 KeSPA Cup in convincing fashion, and now comes into its first series of the new LCK season hungry for more.
You can check out T1’s full lineup to face DWG below. Although Faker returns to the starting lineup, Park ‘Teddy’ Jin-seong remains on the sidelines. Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong has once again been trusted to help T1 take home the victory in Teddy’s stead.
