Players and coaches who will be competing in the inaugural Call of Duty League season have been voting for which of the 12 city-based franchises they think are the strongest with the opening weekend just days away.
The Preseason Power Rankings, put together by CDL Intel, show the average position they were ranked by pros and coaches and show that the team they’ve found to be the toughest opposition in preseason is Atlanta FaZe. The Atlanta team consists of a wealth of young talent whose potential and performance in early scrims appears to have impressed those who contributed to the power rankings.
Atlanta FaZe has the likes of Esports Console Rookie of the Year and 2019 world champion Chris ‘Simp’ Lehr and one of the hottest youth prospects of the 2019 Call of Duty season McArthur ‘Cellium’ Jovel on its roster. With an average position of 1.22, there weren’t many people at all who didn’t have Atlanta Faze down as their number one team.
On the tail of Atlanta are Dallas Empire, who are the favourites with most of the bookmakers offering odds on an outright winner of the CDL. With an average position of 1.62, the Empire will have been consistently in the voter’s top two for its performances in preseason.
Chicago Huntsmen, whose roster has the most Call of Duty major titles between them of any team in the CDL, came in third spot with an average position of 2.87.

Meanwhile, down the bottom end of the rankings are two teams that are relative unknowns heading into the CDL due to their lack of scrims in the preseason. Los Angeles Guerrillas finds itself in 11th spot, while Paris Legion are propping up the rankings.
Call of Duty fans won’t have long to wait to see if the coaches and pros were right with their power rankings, as the inaugural CDL season kicks off this Friday, January 24, with the Launch Weekend in Minnesota.
