Pokimane’s viral TikTok dance is a Fortnite emote now

The Poki emote is available on the store now

Stop right there, Fortnite’s got a new dancing queen and it’s Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys. The Twitch streamer is the latest content creator to receive a specially designed cosmetic and it’s modelled on her popular TikTok dance.

Pokimane, who is one of the biggest female streamers out there, is helping promote the battle royale’s Emote Royale competition, which allows fans to submit their own emote concepts on TikTok for a chance to be immortalised in game. The emote, which is aptly called the Poki, is now available in game.

However, the streamer’s announcement on Saturday (January 18) lost its impact after several prominent Fortnite leakers found the Poki emote lurking in the game files. The datamine only revealed the logo and the name of the emote, rather than the full dance though. Despite being leaked ahead of time, Pokimane revealed she’s kept the emote secret for over a year.

“I believe they did this a year ago or two,” Pokimane says on stream. “They approached me for it and I had to spend a weekend figuring out what I wanted the dance to be and trying to think of a beat and it’s so awkward.”

The Twitch streamer follows in the footsteps of Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, who just last week celebrated the addition of his skin to the game. The Ninja skin, which has his iconic blue hair and yellow headband, is the first of the Icon Series, and will later include cosmetics based around Kathleen ‘Loserfruit’ Belsten, David ‘TheGrefg’ Canovas, and more.
