It seems like a lifetime ago when Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins vacated his throne as Twitch’s biggest streamer to move to rival platform Mixer. Yet still to this day – and likely for many, many days to come – no one is yet to get near his astronomically high follower count of over 14 million.
Despite now seeing significantly smaller viewership numbers than he was previously used to, Ninja still needs to remind some of his fellow streamers that he was at one point – and in terms of follower count, still is – the king of Twitch. While playing some of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Warzone battle royale with Jaryd ‘Summit1g’ Lazar – currently the most watched streamer on Twitch in 2020 – and Dennis ‘Cloakzy’ Lepore, Ninja fell victim to the latest in a long line of remarks about his controversial move to Mixer, but had the perfect response waiting.
After Ninja gave some strategic suggestions to his team about where to rotate to next, Cloakzy replied: “Don’t tell me what to do. We don’t listen to Mixer streamers,” with the out-of-the-blue dig causing Summit1g to nearly choke on his food.
However, Ninja clapped back by flexing his untouchable follower count. “Hey Dennis, would you listen to the guy who hasn’t streamed in seven months but is still the most followed streamer on Twitch by like five million followers?”
A wounded Cloakzy says: “Ay, you ain’t gotta say all that, though,” before Summit1g – who was the most followed streamer on Twitch in 2018 before the likes of Ninja, Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney, Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek, and Ali ‘Myth’ Kabbani surpassed him – admits Ninja will probably still be at the top for “another five years.”
If, for some reason, you need to prove just how dominant Ninja was on Twitch during the Fortnite boom, his follower count says it all. With almost double the amount of followers as Tfue in second place in the follower rankings, it will be an extremely long time before anybody gets close to his total of 14.7 million.
Meanwhile Cloakzy has amassed over 1.7 million followers on Twitch, which is actually less than Ninja now has on Mixer.
