Guy ‘Dr DisRespect’ Beahm looks set to be the next popular streamer to announce a massive exclusivity deal – but with who?
The Two-Time surprised his fans during his March 11 stream after revealing that a big announcement would be dropping today, March 12, regarding which platform he will be streaming on for the foreseeable future. “Tomorrow, we decide what our streaming platform is,” the Doc simply says. “Ladies and gentlemen, be here tomorrow, 11AM Pacific Standard Time. It’s gonna be a good one!”
The Doc – who is currently Twitch’s sixth most followed streamer – has previously blasted some of the platform’s stars who have left to stream on rival platforms. Following Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek’s move to Mixer, he slammed the platform’s approach to poaching big names from Twitch, and even claimed to have had discussions with them himself. He’s also previously said that Mixer “can’t buy viewership” and was passionate that Twitch has the strongest community in the industry.
This appears to take Mixer off the table. While remaining on Twitch with a new deal seems to be the most likely prediction for the announcement (especially seeing as in the above Twitch clip he tells viewers to “be here”), is there a slither of a chance that The Doc could throw a curveball and go to YouTube Gaming?
Dr DisRespect’s existing YouTube channel – where he posts stream highlights and other Doc-related videos – is pretty successful, and YouTube has convinced the likes of Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop to stream on its platform rather than Twitch. Would The Doc move for the right price?
The answer: probably not. A reveal of a new deal with Twitch would coincide with last week’s announcement that Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys – who is just one place behind Dr DisRespect in the Twitch followers leaderboard – had agreed a new multi-year contract to remain on the platform.
After losing Shroud and its number one streamer in Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, along with a host of other personalities, Twitch has been dishing out new deals to its most valued creators, with Ben’ DrLupo’ Lupo and Tim ‘TimTheTatman’ Betar among the other big names to secure exclusivity deals.
