The date for the next PlayStation Showcase has been set

And it'll focus entirely on upcoming PS5 games

After what seems like a lifetime, Sony has announced the first PlayStation Showcase in a year – excluding the State of Play shows. This 40-minute showcase is set for September 9, and will include “updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers.”

This show will focus on some of the upcoming PS5 games due in 2021 and beyond. It will also be PS5-specific, focusing on updates for games that will headline Sony’s new system. We won’t be getting any details about Sony’s next-gen PS5 VR headset, however.

As for what we can expect at this show, the PlayStation Blog doesn’t offer many details. But, PlayStation Studios titles will no doubt be the centrepiece, with updates expected for Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7 and more. We can also expect a number of third party games, such as updates on Ghostwire Tokyo, which is coming in early 2022.

This will be a premiere PS5 show, so don’t expect too many indie games or smaller-scale titles. Keep an eye out for some predictions from The Loadout in the coming days as well.

While you wait for the PlayStation Showcase, take a look at some of the best PS5 games to keep you busy.
