London Spitfire has announced the departure of three members of their Overwatch League roster and confirmed a coach was also leaving the team.
The announcement, posted on October 3, sees Kim ‘NUS’ Jong-seok, Lee “Guard” Hee-dong and Kim ‘Birdring’ Ji-hyuk all move on from the Spitfire. There was also official confirmation that coach Kim ‘Jfeel’ Jeong-min has also left after he posted on Twitter yesterday, October 2, that he was looking for new opportunities.
The exodus marks the first roster changes of the OWL offseason after the San Francisco Shock’s finals victory closed Season 2 last week. The Spitfire, who won the inaugural Overwatch League in 2018, failed to replicate their original success this year, finishing 7th in the overall standings. The released players have not given any indication that they have been signed by another OWL team but now likely enter negotiations with other franchises looking for a reshuffle.
The tweet announcing the four departures reads: “Thank you for all your hard work and efforts during your time with us! We wish you all the best in your careers moving forward.”

The biggest surprise was seeing Birdring leave the Spitfire as he is widely regarded as one of the best DPS players in the world.
Spitfire Support player Choi ‘Bdosin’ Seung-tae made his feelings about the announcement known, replying to the announcement post: “Miss you”.
