PlayStation might have leaked Overwatch 2’s release date

A now deleted tweet says "2020 will be the year Overwatch 2 comes to PS4"

We could be getting Overwatch 2 a lot earlier than planned if a now deleted tweet from PlayStation Brazil is to be believed.

The tweet, which was first reported on by Voxel, says: “2020 will be the year Overwatch 2 comes to PS4.” The post also had a link to an old PlayStation interview with Aaron Keller, assistant director, and Michael Chu, lead writer, in which they talk about the sequel and confirm that “lots of heroes” will be added to the game.

Given that the tweet has now been deleted and Jeff Kaplan has previously said he had “no idea” when the game would ship and that the team would be “going dark” to work on it, it could well be that PlayStation Brazil simply made a mistake. PCGamesN, our sister website, contacted Blizzard but the company declined to comment. Sony has yet to respond.

Blizzard are remaining tight-lipped about the game for now but we know that Overwatch 2 will have PvE modes that will allow players to advance the sequel’s narrative. You can also look forward to lots of new heroes, such as Sojourn, a Canadian hero with white dreadlocks, as well as lots of news maps and modes.

There will also be some crossover with the original hero shooter, although Blizzard has not yet confirmed what the split will be.
