We know it’s only been out a few months, but MultiVersus is very-much one of the best fighting games out there right now and it’s clear to see why. The development team behind the game is constantly updating it, tweaking fighters and fixing bugs, to give the players the best possible experience. However, things could still be better and fans are still hungry for information on how to unlock MultiVersus’ ranked mode. Thankfully, it looks like we’re slowly getting closer to the release of this highly-anticipated mode. Why do we think this? Well, the latest MultiVersus update has changed the game’s MMR systems quite a lot.
Following the release of the update itself, MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh took to Twitter to detail the MMR changes players will need to get used to going forwards – and it should make ranking up quite a bit easier.
The first change we need to talk about is the improved MMR floor. Going forwards, the MMR floor for MultiVersus will be 4 – which is up from 0.5.
What does this mean? Well, this means that the minimum MMR you will earn, whether you win or lose, will be 4. Of course, this value isn’t going to be too relevant without the aforementioned ranked mode being available. However, it should help with matchmaking players of similar skill against one another moving forward.
Adding to this, Huynh has confirmed that the MMR threshold for high-level 1v1 matchmaking is going to be 1900 going forwards. This, when combined with the fact that an MMR floor based on an account’s highest rated character has been implemented, should make those epic duels even more intense – and rewarding.
Of course, these changes are somewhat minor for casual players – so, you may not even notice they’ve been made. However, this is good news for those of us waiting for the release of a dedicated ranked mode – as it surely means that’s on the way sooner rather than later.
For now, though, we’ll just have to wait for more information. You can find out more on the latest balancing changes in our MultiVersus patch notes guide here. If you’re looking for a new main, you can check out our updated MultiVersus tier list right here.
