MultiVersus is buttering up Toast in an upcoming update

MultiVersus' game director Tony Huynh has confirmed that an update with more ways to earn Toast in the fighting game is on the way; here's what we know about it

MultiVersus update earn toast dev confirms: an image of Reindog and toast

We know it’s pretty clear that MultiVersus is one of the best fighting games available right now, but there are still a lot of ways it can improve – and one of those ways is with Toast. In MultiVersus, Toasts are a currency of sorts that players can use to commend one another. While there are a few ways you can get Toasts in-game, whether that be through completing daily log-in challenges or the Season 1 battle pass, however some players think that there should be a few more ways to get your hands on Toast. Conveniently enough, it looks like the development team at Player First Games agrees.

Once again taking to Twitter to address fan concerns, game director Tony Huynh has confirmed that Player First Games is “working on something” when it comes to more ways to earn Toast in-game.

While Huynh didn’t actually go into any more detail than that, it’s clear that there are a number of ways for Player First Games to introduce new methods of earning Toast to MultiVersus. Whether that be through a ‘give Toast to get Toast’ feature, or additional in-game challenges, we should see something offering players more chances to earn Toast in the MultiVersus patch notes before too long.

If you’re wondering why this is a big deal in MultiVersus, allow us to explain. In this fighting game, Toast is a currency that you can award other players after a match. It isn’t just an empty gesture, though, as you might imagine. Players actually get 20 gold for every Toast they are given. While one or two Toasts isn’t going to break the bank, these things can add up and actually give you a huge boost – if you’re lucky enough to be given them.

The problem, though, lies in the fact that – outside earning them through the battle pass and during log-in challenges – you have to actually spend quite a lot of gold on getting them. As it stands, you can spend 350 gold to get ten Toasts. We don’t need to tell you that it doesn’t exactly add up.

There’s a lot MultiVersus gets right, but the in-game economy and microtransactions aren’t one of them. However, we know that this game is a work in progress and we’re confident that Huynh and the team are always working to build and improve the experience for players.

So, while we wait for more Toasts, why not check out the latest update to our MultiVersus tier list here. Whatever one of the MultiVersus maps and stages you’re fighting on, you’re going to want to be fighting as the best there is.
