MultiVersus Gizmo could well be coming as early as next week. The reveal was made via a cute little trailer, and it’s good news for any fans of the Gremlins series. However, it also left some players wondering about the Season 1 roster, because Stripe, another character from the series, had already been teased.
Given that some platform fighters, namely Smash Bros, have characters that can transform, it wouldn’t have been too surprising to find out that Gizmo and Stripe could have been two sides of the same coin. However, those who know not to get the Mogwai wet will be very happy to know that’s not going to be the case.
Both MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh and the Player First Games Twitter accounts have confirmed that Gizmo and Stripe are separate characters, with Gizmo coming first. This doesn’t give us much insight into when we can expect the evil Gremlin in the game, but it’s always nice to have clarification.
Huynh also confirms that the two are “completely different characters.” That means you can expect not only different moves, but likely different playstyles too. We wouldn’t be surprised to see them in separate MultiVersus classes alongside having different weights as well. We’re not sure how large the roster can get before characters begin to feel samey, but Player First Games has done an excellent job of keeping things varied so far.
