March 31, 2022 Crystal Dynamics has released a PS5 update for Marvel’s Avengers that is expected to solve the crashing issues. The text below has been altered to reflect that.
The problems don’t seem to stop for Crystal Dynamic’s superhero looter shooter as the developer reveals that a proposed Marvel’s Avengers PS5 crash fix will only work if players reset their campaign progress – deleting any advancements they’ve made through the game’s story so far. However, it looks like a better fix is available.
In a statement on official social media channels in response to the ongoing crashing issues faced by PS5 players, Crystal Dynamics shares that the “team is continuing to investigate the issue causing a crash for some PS5 players” and that a fix is being tested.
Thankfully, all hope is not lost for players looking to jump into Marvel’s Avengers as soon as possible. Crystal Dynamics has shared a temporary workaround for players looking to get back into the action – but there’s only one, minor issue with this workaround: players are going to need to completely reset their campaign progress to do it.
As for a proper fix, Crystal Dynamics has shared that a title update for Marvel’s Avengers on PS5 is now available – and it should fix any issues you might have.
We have released an update on PS5 that addresses the crash issue that some players have been having. Please let us know if you continue to have the problem.

If you want to check out this workaround, though, you’ll need to head to the Operations menu and reset your Reassemble Campaign Progress.
Following this, you’ll need to boot up the Reassemble Campaign again and “as soon as you become young Kamala on A-Day, force close the game from the PS home screen”, according to Crystal Dynamics. When you restart Marvel’s Avengers, you should be able to launch back into the Avengers Initiative and continue playing post-game content.
Go to Operations and Reset your Reassemble Campaign Progress. As soon as you become young Kamala on A-Day, force close the game from the PS home screen, then you should be able to start Avengers Initiative.

If you’re currently playing through the Reassemble campaign, either part of Hawkeye’s Taking Aim, or the story content that was released with the War for Wakanda expansion, it might be best to avoid playing until a better Marvel’s Avengers PS5 crash fix is available.
We don’t know when that will be, but keeping an eye on the PlayAvengers twitter account is the best place to keep on top of the latest updates from Crystal Dynamics.
