Like A Dragon 8 Release Date: Ichiban can be seen holding a bat

Like A Dragon 8 is the next major evolution for the Yakuza franchise. And, the core goal of this game seeks to bring together the past and the future of the series, according to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios. But, when is the Like A Dragon 8 release date and when will you get to play it?

Well, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios have a big list of games on the horizon including Like A Dragon Ishin, a remake of the never-before localised spinoff game and Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, a prequel to 8 covering Kiryu’s story between Yakuza 6 and this game. Like A Dragon 8 is the furthest away game in the studio’s upcoming lineup.

So, for a full overview of the game and what we know, including when you can expect the Like A Dragon 8 release date, read on through the rest of this article.

Like A Dragon 8 release date rumours

Like A Dragon 8’s release date is set for 2024 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

As you can see the game is still quite a while away and it means that we will play Like A Dragon: Ishin and Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name before then. By Yakuza 8’s release date we will have the full saga of the series in our hands.

Voice lines are still being recorded for the title, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it releases in mid-2024 or later in the year.

Like A Dragon 8 story

Like A Dragon 8’s story picks up from the end of Yakuza: Like A Dragon and will feature both Kiryu and Ichiban as dual protagonists. The story focuses on the past of the series and also the future with Kiryu representing the past and Ichiban representing the future.

Kiryu’s new silver fox haircut does mean something to the game’s story and narrative, but RGG Studio was cagey about details at the game’s reveal.

However, a number of characters’ voices can be heard in the reveal trailer for the game which suggests the supporting characters will pull from both eras of the franchise.

Like A Dragon 8 gameplay

Like A Dragon 8’s gameplay will be similar to what we saw in Yakuza: Like A Dragon. It will once again be a JRPG, not an action title.

But, Kiryu will have his own party when you are playing the game as him which is a major shakeup for the series which has always focused on a core set of characters. This leads us to believe that Kiryu and Ichiban will be on very different paths in the sequel.

So there are all the details about Like A Dragon 8. It might be little right now but we have a long way to go to release so we should start to see a lot more from the game in 2023 ahead of the Like a Dragon release date. While you wait, why not playthrough the entire saga on Game Pass as all the games in the series is currently a part of the Game Pass games library?
