Fnatic’s League of Legends 2022 World Championship campaign has had a push in the right direction after starting bot lane duo Elias ‘Upset’ Lipp and Zdravets ‘Hylissang’ Galabov were yesterday cleared to play following a stint of COVID.
According to the statement posted by Fnatic to Twitter, “Upset will join the starting roster versus Evil Geniuses and The Chiefs” when Worlds kicks off later today. Hylissang, meanwhile, “has only recently tested”, so will be absent from the first day. However, there is a hope that the Bulgarian will be back in time for tomorrow’s game against DetonatioN FocusMe.
As such, support duty for the first day will fall to academy player Ruben ‘Rhuckz’ Barbosa, who was originally cleared to play after Upset and Hylissang tested positive last week.
Rhuckz has had a mixed season of results with Fnatic TQ in the Spanish SuperLiga, having made it to the Spring EU Masters event after a dominant split. However, the team slumped to an eighth place finish in the Summer, missing out on the European Regional Leagues’ premier competition.
For fans, the veteran’s presence will hopefully be enough to help see Fnatic over its first LoL Worlds hurdles.
