Riot Games has finally confirmed the League of Legends Worlds 2022 dates and seeding, and it's not long now until the best of the best duke it out on the Rift

League of Legends Worlds 2022 dates and seeding: Worlds trophy

League of Legends developer Riot Games has today lifted the lid on not only the dates for each stage of the 2022 World Championship, but also how the seeding will work for each region. With LoL Worlds rapidly approaching, fans have been eagerly awaiting confirmation on when they’ll be able to see their favourite players on the international stage.

So when is LoL Worlds 2022? The tournament is set to kick off with the Play-Ins Stage – hosted at the Arena Esports Stadium at Artz Pedregal in Mexico City, Mexico – on September 29. From there, the Worlds tour will head over to the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden, New York City for both the Group Stage and Quarterfinals. The Semifinals were originally set to be held in Toronto, Canada, but will now be held in Atlanta, Georgia’s State Farm Arena due to COVID issues.

Finally, the lucky finalists will duke it out for the coveted Worlds trophy at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. Here, only the best team will carve its name into the annals of Worlds history.

You can check out the dates for each stage below:

  • Play-Ins: September 29 – October 4
  • Group Stage: October 7 – October 10
  • Quarterfinals: October 20 – October 23
  • Semifinals: October 29 – October 30
  • Finals: November 5

Worlds 2022 is set to host 24 teams from across the globe. However, following the cancellation of the LCL due to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, the region’s slot will be given to Europe – the region which, Riot says, has performed best at international events of the past two years, but does not already have four slots.
