G2’s captain Perkz confirms it was Caps’ idea to swap League of Legends roles

Perkz will now move to mid lane while Caps becomes G2's ADC

The captain of G2’s League of Legends team, Luka ‘Perkz’ Perkovic, says that the role swap between him and Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther from AD carry to mid lane was Caps’ idea and that he will happily swap back if the Dane doesn’t feel comfortable as an ADC.

When asked about the role swap during his December 23 livestream, Perkz revealed that it was Caps who first proposed that the pair switch positions for the 2020 season. The G2 captain goes on to say that if things don’t go to plan he will “call Uma and bring it back,” in reference to his ranked League of Legends account name (and subsequent meme), ‘Uma Jan.’

“Well, as soon as Caps doesn’t want to play AD carry I will go back to bot lane,” Perkz says in response to the role swap question. “Don’t worry guys, I am not a tyrant. I’m not going to force someone to do something they don’t want to do. It was Caps’ idea to go bot lane anyway, not mine. So if Caps doesn’t want to play bot then I take my phone, call Uma, and bring it back. What can I say?”

While it may seem odd to go for a massive role change off the back of an incredible season for G2 that saw them reach the final of Worlds, it will likely give them more flexibility in terms of champion coverage and make them more unpredictable against opponents.

If we are to believe G2’s resident joker, jungler Marcin ‘Jankos’ Jankowski, then the role swap may also have something to do with Caps wanting to get one over on former Fnatic teammate Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larsson, who is Fnatic’s bot laner. This would see the pair face off in bot lane when the teams face each other in LEC.

G2 will be hoping the position swap does not compromise their dominance in European League of Legends and that it can push them to become even better in 2020.
