Riot Games reveals new champion Bel’Veth in LoL cinematic

League of Legends new champion Bel'Veth reveal: Bel'Veth, the Void empress

League of Legends developer Riot Games has today given us a horrifying vision of the future – one in which new champion Bel’Veth, “a dark cancer that has metastasized within the heart of the Void”, seeks to consume Runeterra in its entirety, before rebuilding it in “her own twisted image”.

In a new cinematic called ‘All That Will Ever Be’, created in conjunction with DIGIC Pictures, Kai’Sa finds herself deep within the Void – possibly following the end of ‘The Call’ cinematic which was released at the beginning of the season. After wandering for a short while, the Daughter of the Void happens upon new champion Bel’Veth – who is set to be a jungler – and her horde.

Kai’Sa questions Vel’Beth’s identity, with the newly-revealed champion replying that she is “everything the Void has consumed.” According to Riot, Bel’Veth may be new to Runeterra, but “her birth is untold millennia in the making—the end result of an allergic reaction between the Void and a nascent reality.”

The culmination of “the combined memories, experiences, and emotions of an entire devoured port city and its outlying ocean – Bel’Veth’s mind contains millions of years of perfectly preserved knowledge, giving her near-omniscience as she prepares to destroy both Runeterra and the domain of her progenitors, the Watchers.”

Upon hearing Bel’Veth’s plans for Runeterra, Kai’Sa springs into action, but is slapped down faster than a squishy facechecking a fed assassin. The Void empress then captures Kai’Sa before revealing her true, monstrous form. There’s teeth… lots of teeth.

The shapeshifting element of Bel’Veth seems to align with the unconfirmed ability leaks which were posted by ‘Ryscu’ just over a week ago. According to the leaked information, Bel’Veth’s (R) Endless Banquet briefly turns her into her true form, giving her bonus resistances and the ability to use her passive stacks to form a damaging swarm.

For Kai’Sa, it seems like her time as a sentient being has possibly come to an end, as her Universe page and splash art were recently updated to show her in a new, corrupted form. Evidently, this was a clear teaser for the reveal of new champion Bel’Veth.

With Bel’Veth looking absolutely terrifying, we’re excited to see Riot move further down this more extra-terrestrial path. It seems that a millennia of fighting across the LoL universe is soon to have consequences on a cosmic scale.
