One of the big questions on every League of Legends esports fan’s mind coming into the new season will always be ‘where are the Mid-Season Invitational and Worlds being held this year?’ Well, while the World Championship’s whereabouts won’t be confirmed for some time, we could already know where the League of Legends MSI 2023 location will be.
According to Esports News UK’s Dom Sacco, the MSI 2023 location is set to be in London, England. While this “is not 100% set in stone”, multiple reports close to the publication have corroborated that it is the most likely destination for the event.
MSI is one of only two international LAN events currently held in the LoL esports calendar year. Only the best team from each competing region is invited, and once there will compete with its pan-regional rivals for the lion’s share of its prize pool, as well as bragging rights – at least until LoL Worlds rolls round.
For the United Kingdom, it’s been a long time since the country has hosted a League LAN. In fact, you’ll have to turn the clock all the way back to Worlds 2015 where London’s Wembley Arena played host to the tournament’s quarterfinals stage.
The UK has a strong history of producing talent at all levels across the pro League scene. From former Vitality star Barney ‘Alphari’ Morris, to MAD Lions coach James ‘Mac’ MacCormack, to LEC talent trio Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont, Aaron ‘Medic’ Chamberlain, and Andy ‘Vedius’ Day, there’ll be many within the space hoping that an MSI on home soil materialises.
