Only days after a stating he wants to own his own League of Legends team one day, YouTuber Jimmy’ MrBeast’ Donaldson confirmed during his 24-hour giveaway stream that it is definitely happening. However, he did let fans know it is too soon for him to share details about his plans for the team.
“Still thinking of creating a League of Legends esports team?” A viewer asks during the stream. “Oh yeah, not even thinking, it’s happening,” says Mr Beast. “Definitely not this season or the Summer Split either. But we are definitely going to have a Beast Gaming League of Legends team, 100 percent.” This means a team won’t arrive till 2022 at the earliest, but confirmation of a team name makes the announcement feel a lot more real.
MrBeast has set his plans of owning a League of Legends team into motion pretty quickly since he first suggested it, however with multiple YouTube channels and other ventures to focus on, actually forming this team is going to take some time.
MrBeast is known for splashing lots of cash on projects he is passionate about. He recently co-founded TeamTrees, a fundraiser that is attempting to raise $20 million to plant 20 million trees. He is also known for giving out Lamborghinis and islands, so a League of Legends team should be an easy purchase for him.
With MrBeast admitting he wants to “make a run for Worlds” once he’s formed his team, the most likely course of action would be to buy a spot in the North American LCS. However, the YouTube star also joked on Twitter with Fnatic CEO Sam Matthews that he would need the European titans to “go on a long vacation” when he forms his own team, so maybe we shouldn’t write off a Beast Gaming team in the LEC.
