Malphite is getting a League of Legends Worlds skin because Doinb’s wife plays it

FunPlus Phoenix’s mid laner Kim ‘Doinb’ Tae-sang has revealed the five champions that the team has picked to receive Worlds 2019 winners skins during a livestream.

The biggest shock is Doinb’s pick, who has selected one of the game’s least picked and often forgotten about champions to get a Worlds skin but for a heart-warming reason. His choice of Malphite would’ve come as a massive surprise to many, but it appears that his reason for picking the massive stone creature is that it is the champion his wife plays.

There are some more predictable picks, however, from the rest of Doinb’s teammates. The MVP of last year’s Worlds, Gao ‘Tian’ Tian-Liang, will unsurprisingly pick Lee Sin to receive a Worlds skin. Lee Sin was Tian’s most-picked champion at Worlds 2019 and featured in all three games of their crushing final victory against G2. Liu ‘Crisp’ Qing-Song also goes for a champion who helped FunPlus Phoenix in that final with Thresh, who featured in two of the three games.

Elsewhere Lin ‘Lwx’ Wei-Xiang will choose Vayne, and Kim ‘GimGoon’ Han-saem will pick Gangplank.

These picks haven’t been officially confirmed by FunPlus Phoenix or Riot as of yet, but this is the info provided by Doinb during his livestream.

The roster’s picks would see Vayne, Lee Sin, and Thresh all receive their second Worlds skins, while Gangplank and Malphite would receive their first ever Worlds winners makeover.

The skins will likely be released in the spring as last year’s champions Invictus Gaming had their skins drop in April.
