GTA V really is the game that keeps on giving. The veteran title is still wildly popular, and with the GTA 6 release date still nowhere to be seen, Rockstar keeps GTA Online updated with new vehicles, races, and missions to keep the player base logging back into Los Santos. The 2020 Cayo Perico Heist update added 20 more vehicles, and one of those cars went straight into the top speed charts.
Whether you want to assert yourself as a top racer, beat the cops after a heist, or cruise down and show off to the rest of your game at a car meet, owning the fastest set of wheels is useful.
Having the fastest car for your GTA Online garage might not be as straightforward as the 0-60mph or top speed in a straight line. Top speed, acceleration, handling, and weight all come into play. How fast a car feels, in arcade-racing fashion, is never going to be accurate. The in-game stat bars aren’t reliable either, so GTA online megafans have put together the ‘true’ list of fastest cars.
Our guide only includes cars which are raceable, so you won’t find rocket-powered or otherwise non-raceable (NR) cars here. We already know they’re juiced.
Here are the fastest cars in GTA 5 for you to spend your millions on (check our guides on making money in GTA 5 if you need some extra cash).
Fastest cars GTA 5 (2021) – top speed

- Ocelot Pariah (136.0mph/218.9kph) – $1,420,000 at Legendary Motorsport
- Grotti Itali RSX (135.3mph/217.7kph) – $3,465,000 at Legendary Motorsport

- Bravado Banshee 900R (131.0mph/210.8kph) – $565,000 at Benny’s Original Motor Works
Want to feel like Jeremy Clarkson blasting down an airstrip?
For a comparatively bargain price of $1,420,000 you can buy an Ocelot Pariah and run the car that’s officially fastest in GTA Online. This sports car beats its super class rivals, and is inspired by the Ferrari 812 Superfast and the Aston Martin V12 Zagato.
Don’t let it’s understated looks fool you; the Pariah is not one to be messed with in races, either. You’ll just need to master its handling in order to get the best out of it. A must-have for any GTA garage!
The Grotti Itali RSX is the newest addition on our list, dropping in-game with the 1.52 Cayo Perico Heist update. This spicy Italian meatball is based on the stunning Ferrari SF90 Stradale. If you don’t fancy spending over $3m to own one, thankfully you can get it at the trade price of *only* $2,598,750 after you’ve completed a series of DJ Request jobs.
Fastest cars GTA 5 (2021) – split lap times
The cars tested with the best lap times in the game. Speed and control combined!
- Benefactor BR8 (0:54:788) – $3,400,000 at Legendary Motorsport
- Progen PR4 (0:56:424) – $3,515,000 at Legendary Motorsport
- Declasse DR1 (0:56:790) – $2,997,000 at Legendary Motorsport
- Ocelot R88 (0:56:791) – $3,115,000 at Legendary Motorsport
- Progen Emerus (0:57:823) – $1,650,000 at Legendary Motorsport
Designed for track racing, the Benefactor BR8 open-wheel car is the fastest car in GTA 5. It’s based on a Formula 1 car, so it’s not exactly practical. The one seater can be modified to differing levels of downforce, and you can get the best lap times with the Mid DF option, a perfect balance between speed and grip.
The Progen Emerus is the only supercar in the top 5. Based on the McLaren Senna, this two-seater is more useful on the streets than its rivals. Whilst the Emerus isn’t the fastest in a straight line, it breezes through corners
Can’t afford these crazy cars? Once per day, spinning the Lucky Wheel at the Diamond Casino & Resort could land you the podium vehicle, which changes with every event week!
