New Serenade Fortnite skin could be key to Chapter 4 Season 3 theme

Epic Games' new Serenade Fortnite skin is here and it could be quite a big clue to what the battle royale is going to do with its' map in Chapter 4 Season 3.

If you’re trying to work out what’s going to happen in Epic Games’ battle royale next, the new Serenade Fortnite skin could actually be a key part of working out where this shooter is headed; if you’re a fan of Breakwater Bay, we have some bad news for you. But, more on that later.

If you’re sitting there wondering why Serenade is so important to Epic Games’ next major Fortnite update, a theory posted online by ‘Spacer_98‘ a few days ago actually makes a lot of sense – and we don’t think this skin’s appearance in the Item Shop is accidental, either.

As you might already know if you’re an eagle-eyed Fortnite fan, the Serenade Fortnite skin is actually based on an in-game NPC that players can find wandering around any one of the Marine Monoliths scattered around the Island. As the word ‘Marine’ suggests, and the fact that the Serenade Fortnite skin bundle is named ‘Singing Siren’ in-game, both the NPC and the POI are related to the ocean in some way.

We know that isn’t mind-blowing, but here’s where it gets interesting. As explained by ‘Spacer_98’, the recently released Koi Kingdom bundle comes with a skin named Koi Brawler Zero. A recolour of the original Zero skin, which shipped with a very lore-important Black Hole back bling cosmetic, this also comes with a back bling item: Abyssal Void.

The item description for the Abyssal Void back bling reads as follows: “the hottest singularity under the sea”.

Want to know how this all ties together? Well, recent Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 leaks from notable Fortine dataminer ‘Wenso‘ suggest that a “desert [or] tropical theme” is coming to the battle royale shooter next season – thanks to the discovery of new files relating to palm trees and cacti.

If these leaks are true (and they usually are when it comes to Fortnite), then we’re in for a dry season in Chapter 4 Season 3. ‘Spacer_98’ is convinced that the appearance of the Marine Monoliths is a clue that – and we quote – “some kind of extremely hot singularity under the sea” is going to “scorch the map” and essentially evaporate almost all the water.

But, where does the Serenade Fortnite skin come into all this? Well, the character is described as a Singing Siren and, traditionally, sirens are described as beautiful sea creatures that use their singing to lure unaware sailors onto rocks – scuppering their vessels. If you want to hear Serenade’s siren song for yourself, you can below:

Now, we’re not saying that Serenade is going to start causing shipwrecks. However, her appearance in-game could be something of a warning to players that something is coming – the ‘drought’ we’re starting to see talked about again. ‘Spacer-98’ believes that Serenade’s appearance in-game is heralding the activation of this singularity which will, in turn, lead to a nice desert-themed season for Fortnite.

It’s worth taking all of this with a pinch of salt, but it’s a theory that does line up with the datamined assets we’re starting to see appear online. The Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 release date is on the way and we should start seeing more evidence to support this – or discredit this – theory soon.

If you’re interested in picking up the Serenade Fortnite skin, you can for 1,200 V-Bucks. The Singing Siren bundle, however, is only 1,700 V-Bucks and comes with the Serenade skin, the Fluttering Notes glider, the Seabound Slasher pickaxe, the Overflow wrap, and the Serenade’s Song lobby track.

Fortnite is one of the best battle royale games out there and the rich lore Epic Games offers us, and the fact that theories like this are possible (and maybe even true) contribute to that. When you think about how the Fortnite first-person mode may be ready soon for Chapter 4 Season 2, this could become one of the best competitive FPS games in the future. Who knows what’s going to happen next.
