FromSoftware has yet to confirm an Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC release date after the official announcement, though we’re likely to see it before the end of 2023.
In the announcement post, FromSoftware confirmed that an Elden Ring DLC was currently in development. Titled Shadow of the Erdtree, it’s likely this expansion will tell us more about the Erdtree and its history, though little was given besides a piece of key art.

The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree story will likely focus on the history of the Erdtree, or possibly take place after one of the Elden Ring endings. In typical FromSoftware style, the Shadow of the Erdtree story will probably be very cryptic, spread between cutscenes and environmental storytelling. Nevertheless, fans of Elden Ring will be pleased to be able to learn more about the mysterious Erdtree.

We don’t currently know if the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will include new gameplay features, though it’s likely to include new weapons, new enemies, and possibly even new areas. If so, this will be an exciting new expansion to the game, especially for those who love using every weapon and complete all there is to do in Elden Ring.
While it’s a shame we don’t have the Elden Ring DLC release date yet, it’s definitely cause for celebration that fans can venture back into the Lands Between for a brand new adventure when it releases.
