Johan ‘n0tail’ Sundstein, one of the members of OG’s The International winning team, has been banned on Twitch for using a homophobic slur during a Christmas Day stream of Dota 2.
N0tail, who is one of the top esports earners this year, was streaming Dota 2 on his 100,000 followed channel on Christmas Day, sharing his top-level plays with over 2,800 viewers.
However, it was during that broadcast that he used a homophobic slur to describe some of the heroes in the game during the selection phase, which later resulted in the ban. We’re not going to embed the clip in which n0tail utters the word, but you can watch it here via Reddit if you want. Be warned though, some of you may find the language upsetting.
N0tail is one of the most popular Dota 2 personalities on the streaming platform, which in in part due to the fact that he’s one of five players to have won The International twice.
Twitch’s community guidelines clearly state that any hateful conduct that “promotes, encourages, or facilitates discrimination, objectification, harassment, or violence based on… gender, gender identity and sexual orientation” is prohibited, which is why the player has been banned.
Although, given that this is widely believed to be n0tail’s first offence on the platform, his ban should last between one day and one week. The Dota 2 captain has not responded to the ban at the time of writing.
