It’s one of the most divisive and fiercely contested debates in the gaming world that features two of the planet’s biggest esports: ‘Which is the better MOBA, Dota 2 or League of Legends?’
Well OG’s Dota 2 player and two-time The International winner Sebastien ‘Ceb’ Debs has given his take on the argument using a rather odd and extremely niche analogy: bikes. In a video posted to his Twitter page, Ceb describes the debate as an “eternal conflict.” He attempts to explain it by using the elaborate metaphor of comparing Dota 2 to a “piece of art” 26-inch tricycle and League of Legends to a fast, high-performance “1996 GT4 bike.”
While his analogy becomes extremely detailed – even to the point where Ceb admits “I don’t even know what the fuck I’m saying” – the Frenchman summarises by saying that although the GT4 bike (LoL) would beat the tricycle (Dota 2) in a race, Ceb would rather enjoy the “complexity” of the tricycle rather than the “scrappy ass” racing bike.

This slightly odd comparison likely draws on the fact that in terms of viewership and overall popularity League of Legends is at the top of the pile and has broken records this year for its esports audiences, yet Dota 2 fans continue to be loyal to their game due to its perceived deeper levels of difficulty and variety.
While the debate over which MOBA is superior will rage on for years to come – and will likely see many more strange metaphors used to try and answer it – both games have large and loyal fan bases who are unlikely to budge from their respective sides.
In short, the Dota vs LoL argument will never be truly settled. But it is quite fun to see people try.
