To the surprise of absolutely no one, OG has announced its entry into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with a star-studded lineup.
News of the Dota2 organisation buying a CS:GO team has been one of the worst kept secrets in the scene for a few weeks now, especially after the name ‘OG CS:GO’ was registered as a company in Denmark. Rumours of two-time Major winner Nathan ‘NBK-‘ Schmitt joining forces with Aleksib ‘Aleksib’ Virolainen, who have both been inactive since the Berlin Major, only fuelled the rumour mill.
OG all but confirmed the CS:GO team earlier this week when it changed its Twitter name to “unnamed team” after North sold Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså to an undisclosed team.
“Today will be remembered, at OG, as a crucial milestone of our esports journey,” the OG website reads. “It is with great pride that we announce our entry into one of the most iconic and competitive esport games worldwide: Counter Strike Global Offensive.
“CS:GO represents everything we cherish about esports : it is spectacular and amazing to watch, the level of competition is unbelievable and increases every season, the depths of the game mechanics and tactics is unlimited, and most importantly its community and ecosystem has promised CS:GO to the brightest future.”
The OG roster is as follows:
- Nathan ‘NBK-‘ Schmitt
- Aleksib ‘Aleksib’ Virolainen
- Valdemar ‘Valde’ Bjørn Vangså
- Issa ‘ISSAA’ Murad
- Mateusz ‘mantuu’ Wilczewski
