Evil Geniuses has had a rollercoaster of a start to life back in competitive CS:GO, having formed, won a title and finished bottom at a tournament in less than a week.
After acquiring NRG’s CS:GO roster last Thursday, September 26, the team dove straight into their first tournament the same day, ESL One New York. Despite having been absent from competitive Counter Strike for over eight years, EG blew the competition away in New York and immediately got their hands on their first trophy of the new era.
A quick turnaround saw them jump on a plane to Sweden for DreamHack Malmo, but what a difference a couple days can make as EG was eliminated today, October 2, without winning a single map. The killer blow came from Mousesports, who defeated EG 2-0 in the first round of the lower bracket to swiftly end their hopes of back-to-back titles.
Taking to Twitter, EG’s Tarik ‘Tarik’ Celik showed his disappointment at crashing out, saying that “ the circumstances make the losses here so much more frustrating.”
Welllll that’s emo… Not much to be said but the circumstances make the losses here so much more frustrating. Wtv tho, onto the next one 😐
