Race against your friends in CS:GO’s new Death Racers mode

All we need is a proper Takeshi's Castle showdown.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

A new competitive movement-based game mode has been added to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Death Racers is a new mode, which is available via the server console, and will allow you race against other players.

Death Racers was teased on the r/GlobalOffensive subreddit last week, and it’s safe to say the community loves the idea, with the thread making it to the top three of all-time posts. The mode is hardcore parkour meets Takeshi’s Castle, where you’ll need to hop, jump, and skip over different platforms, avoid falling objects, and stop other players from finishing before you.

Rounds last about three minutes each, and you’ll get points for your placement in the match, as well as the number of kills you get. Guns are pretty rare in the game though and only have two bullets, and if you die you’ll spawn at the last checkpoint. Overall, it’s pretty accessible to players new and old though. If you can’t bunny hop or surf, you’ll still be able to give Death Racers a go.

The mode has been in beta for a long time but the creator Sniper13g has already confirmed two new maps are in the works. The concept is similar to Course maps, which have been available for about ten years, but it’s nice to see a new and refreshing take on the genre.

I’m working on a new movement-based game mode where you race against other players. What do you think? from r/GlobalOffensive

Currently only servers are open in EU, AU, and US, although Sniper13g has hinted there will be opportunities to rent servers in the near future.
