BIG Clan has been crowned as the king of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene after topping the world rankings for the first time in the organisation’s history.
The German team climbed 23 places in the last month alone to claim the top spot on HLTV following the conclusion of the latest Regional Major Ranking tournament, cs_summit_six. There the team, led by Johannes ‘tabseN’ Wodarz, took down second-placed Vitality 3-2 in the grand finals despite working their way through the lower bracket.
However, the team, who also recently won DreamHack Masters Spring Europe, only hold onto the top spot by a thread. The Germans have 851 points, just three more than Vitality, so they’re going to need to do a lot more if the team want to hang on to the accolade.
Regardless of how tight the margins are, BIG is pretty happy with it. “Yes it’s online but fuck it,” Nils ‘k1to’ Gruhne says on Twitter. “We grinded so much these last six months. I think it’s impossible to put more time into the game than we did. Thank you for all your support and all the hate messages, they make us even stronger.”
#1 @HLTVorg global ranking! 🏆
After a difficult 2019, with so many challenging moments and frustrating results, it's such a redemptive feeling to look at this chart.

TabseN says it “means the world” to him and later went on to do a stream still proudly wearing the club’s strip.
