The Season 3 update for Call of Duty Warzone 2 is almost upon us and it’s looking like a fantastic – and somewhat important – injection of new content to the battle royale shooter. One thing we’re certain a lot of people will be looking forward to, outside of the new operators, is the long-awaited introduction of Warzone Ranked. Yes, that’s right; we’re finally getting a competitive mode.
Valeria and Alejandro are going to squash their beef and settle their differences once and for all in Warzone 2 Season 3, and you’ll be able to do the same while clambering up a brand new rank system when the Warzone 2 Ranked release date rolls around – which just might be the same as the Warzone 2 Season 3 release date.
However, we don’t know whether that’s the case or not just yet. All we know is that Warzone Ranked is coming in Season 3, as it’s one of the new features listed in the recently released Season 3 trailer for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2.
At the moment, we don’t actually have many details at all to talk about in regards to Warzone 2’s Ranked mode. However, it’s worth looking at the Apex Legends ranked system for clues as to how a competitive playlist can work in a battle royale format.
It’s worth reiterating that this doesn’t mean Warzone Ranked will be the same, but we can imagine it will be somewhat similar given that this is a tried and tested way of scoring a battle royale in a competitive way.
Whichever way Call of Duty goes about it, we can’t help but think that it all sounds like a lot of fun. This has the potential to be one of the best competitive FPS games out there, and we just hope the Warzone 2 Ranked mode is able to deliver on the expectations we all have of it.
Elsewhere in Season 3, it looks like Valeria stans are in luck. We said Warzone 2 Season 3 needs to honor this fan-favourite operator’s look, and it looks like that’s what Infinity Ward are doing.
