After some drip-feeding on social media, the entire new Warzone 2 map has been revealed. Ashika Island is Warzone 2’s first small-scale map, which means the fast-paced, fan-favourite Resurgence mode can now return for Call of Duty fans to enjoy. The small Japanese island certainly carries the essence of Rebirth Island from the original Warzone, but instead sees players battle amongst beaches, farms, castles, and underground rivers.
With the Warzone 2 Ashika Island release date coinciding with the launch of the delayed Season 2, fans will finally be able to drop into a small-scale battlefield for the first time since the battle royale launched in November 2022. Those who enjoyed the maps of Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep in the original Warzone, and the modes that came with them, haven’t even been able to dip back into them, as both maps were removed from the previous title to leave just the large battlefield of Caldera.
The official top-down view of the map posted on social media shows seven main Ashika Island POIs for players to land at.
In the centre atop a relatively steep hill is Tsuki Castle, which according to a Twitter post’s cryptic haiku description has a “hidden space” and “defenders”. It’s currently unclear if “defenders” refers to other potential players you may encounter, or intentionally placed AI that have been controversially added to the core battle royale experience in Al Mazrah.
The remaining six POIs – Beach Club, Town Centre, Oganikku Farms, Shipwreck, Residential, and Port Ashika – are all situated around the coastline of the island.
While it’s hard to see on the top-down view, there is also some underground exploration to be had. The island has an “underground waterway”, according to a social media post, and from the look of both the screenshot used in the post and the top-down view of the map, this has two points of entry – one on the north coast, just to the right of the beach, and one on the west coast running through Town Centre and underneath the road bridge.
The new Warzone 2 Resurgence map certainly looks the part, so hopefully once players actually get to drop in it’ll also be a great alternative battle royale experience to Al Mazrah. Make sure when you do dive into Ashika Island you’re equipped with the best Warzone 2 guns in your loadout drop.
