MW2 World Cup LTM coming and it could be Uplink, claims leaker

We know Pogba, Neymar, and Messi are probably going to be coming to Modern Warfare 2, but it looks like a new World Cup LTM and map are also on the way soon

We know it sucks that Modern Warfare 2 ranked play won’t arrive until 2023, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to look forward to in the next few months. The Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 release date is fast-approaching and it sounds like a Modern Warfare 2 World Cup LTM will be available in-game before too long.

Do you remember when data miners found operator skins for Juventus player Paul Pogba and PSG player Neymar? Well, Infinity Ward didn’t just do that for a laugh. Alongside PSG player Messi also reportedly being another operator coming to Modern Warfare 2, it turns out there’s a much larger World Cup crossover event planned for the shooter.

As reported by renowned and reliable Call of Duty leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope‘, Modern Warfare 2 players should expect to see all three footballers introduced as playable operators in the future (most likely as purchasable Store bundles) alongside a limited-availability map and LTM – which everyone thinks is going to be the somewhat sports-like Uplink.

If you’re sitting there wondering what Uplink is, you’re not alone. Somewhat similar to a standard one-flag Capture The Flag mode, Uplink is a game mode where players need to pick up a ball-shaped satellite drone (usually) and either throw it, or run it, into the highlighted zones to score points. As a game mode, it’s only featured on Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.

While we don’t know how exactly this will work in Modern Warfare 2, or if Uplink is indeed going to be available as an LTM during the aforementioned World Cup crossover, it isn’t a stretch of the imagination to picture the Uplink objective as a World Cup Qatar 2022 football and the objective being some sort of goal. Of course, players will probably be carrying the ball – not kicking it – but, this is probably as close as we’ll get to football in a Call of Duty game.

But, as always, this isn’t official information so it’s worth taking it with a pinch of salt – or two. We do expect to see Pogba and Neymar as operators in Modern Warfare 2, but whether they’re joined by Messi and a new World Cup LTM based on Uplink remains to be seen.
