Between evolving Call of Duty meta loadouts, nerfs, buffs and more, getting out of Al Mazrah alive in Warzone 2 DMZ mode isn’t exactly easy. Other COD players will likely have better weapons in their arsenal, causing your squad to fall prey to an early trip to the lobby. Those woes continue in the latest Call of Duty game, as another pay-to-win COD store bundle introduces an exclusive feature in exchange for your hard-earned cash.
The new Warzone 2 COD store bundle, known as Soap: Going Dark, includes the beloved Scottish Task Force 141 operator, covered in facepaint and wearing tactical gear. Ditching the red face mask seen on the Red Team 141 (only available in the Vault Edition), players can see Soap in all his glory, while gaining access to a new feature. DMZ mode players will be able to utilise an extra armour slot in exchange for 1,800 COD points – a feature that can’t be accessed in any other fashion.
Dubbed the ‘Active Duty Slot’, the bundle details a “DMZ bonus effect” that activates “one more Active Duty Operator slot” in-game. If you’re more of a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer grinder and haven’t stepped into DMZ mode, essentially the Active Duty Slot enables players to obtain three separate loadouts during their Al Mazrah mission. Each loadout includes the standardised format of a backpack, gas mask, armour vest, and a killstreak.
Call of Duty YouTuber ‘LaserBolt‘ runs through the bundle, showcasing a tasty MP5 tuning that might serve you well in your next DMZ excursion. It isn’t the first time that developer Infinity Ward has implemented a pay-to-win scenario to DMZ. The first instance was seen in the Bomb Squad bundle for operator Fender, then later appeared in the Classic Ghost COD store bundle.
Marking the third time the approach has been seen in the game, it is likely that developer Infinity Ward will roll out other bundles of a similar degree as the Warzone 2 Season 3 reloaded release date approaches. Just make sure you’ve got the best Warzone 2 guns equipped when it does.
In the meantime, players waiting to see Call of Duty appear on Xbox Game Pass may need to put those dreams aside for a while longer, following the UK’s CMA decision on the Microsoft Activision deal.
