Is Baldur’s Gate 3 coming to Xbox?
While an Xbox version has not yet been announced, Larian Studios has stated that an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is in development. If and when it does release, though, it will not release alongside Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC, Mac, GeForce NOW, and PS5. Furthermore, they have confirmed that it won’t come to Xbox One because the console isn’t able to run it in an interview with Eurogamer.
In a statement with IGN, Larian Studios clarified that it has “no exclusivity” in terms of which platforms Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on, so an Xbox release is not out of the picture. The reason behind the lack of a confirmed Xbox release is due to “technical issues in developing the Xbox port”, including issues with getting splitscreen co-op to run to the same standard on both Xbox Series X and S.
An eventual Baldur’s Gate 3 release on Xbox consoles is likely, given that Larian’s Divinity Original Sin games made their way to Xbox after their initial PC release. But, when will that be? Given this news, we’re not sure, though it hopefully won’t be too far behind release on other platforms.
