Being an Amazon Prime member gives you plenty of money-saving benefits, including free and fast delivery, Amazon Prime Video, and exclusive discounts during Amazon shopping events. One brilliant and lesser-known benefit of Amazon Prime is Prime Gaming. But what actually is Prime Gaming, and is it worth signing to Prime if you’re not already a member?

Is Prime Gaming free with Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime members automatically get Prime Gaming for free, which in turn provides access to free games, Twitch Prime loot, and the chance to level up with weapon upgrades and a free channel subscription on Twitch.tv. If you’re already a Prime member, this is an added bonus, but what about if you’re not? Let’s break down whether an Amazon Prime subscription is right for you as a gamer in 2023.

Amazon Prime Gaming rewards

Amazon Prime Gaming gives you a load of no-cost benefits, across games on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and the Nintendo Switch. Prime Gaming is especially good if you use Twitch a lot for video game live streaming. This is what you get with Prime Gaming:

  • Free in-game content  Free items include skins, weapons, XP boosts, extra lives, and rare players or characters. The different items available might vary depending on which country you’re in, but you’ll find extras for popular games like Candy Crush, FIFAGenshin Impact and Valorant.

  • Free games – As well as just being able to access free items, you can also get full games for free. Some of these are only available to download on the Amazon Games App (which is Windows PC only), but others are accessed from the native store of the developer.

  • Twitch benefits – You’ll get to redeem a free Twitch channel subscription with Prime Gaming every month (usually this is $4.99). You can also customize your Twitch experience with more chat color choices and extra emoticons only reserved for Prime Gamers, plus extend the storage for your broadcasts from 14 days to 60.

How to get Prime Gaming

You get Prime Gaming included with an Amazon Prime membership. If you’re not already a Prime member, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial. This will roll over to a paid membership which is currently $14.99 a month after the free trial ends, or $139 for a full year.

How to cancel Amazon Prime Gaming

If you don’t feel like you’re getting enough out of your Prime Gaming account, it’s easy to cancel your Amazon Prime membership at any time from the Prime section of your account on the Amazon website.
