GTA 5 is finally arriving as one of the PS Plus Extra and Premium games for December 2023, alongside other heavy hitters on PS5 and PS4.

Sony is routinely adding new games to the PS Plus package, particularly when it comes to the PS Plus Extra and Premium games catalog. Celebrating Sony’s so-called Season of Play this holiday season, we’re being treated to a handful of great new arrivals in the PS Plus Extra and Premium December 2023 games list, from the crime-ridden streets of Los Santos to the rhythmic thrills of Hell.

PS Plus sees great additions each month for all tiers in the PS Plus free games calendar, though those with the more expensive PS Plus Extra and Premium games list package get an even sweeter deal. With over 19 games on the way for subscribers, there’s a lot to look forward to this holiday season.

Available on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will be able to play the following games at no additional cost:

  • GTA 5 – PS5, PS4
  • Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – PS5, PS4
  • Moto GP23 – PS5, PS4
  • Metal: Hellsinger – PS5, PS4
  • Salt and Sacrifice – PS5, PS4
  • Tinykin – PS5, PS4
  • Shadowrun Returns – PS5, PS4
  • Shadowrun: Dragonfall – PS5, PS4
  • Shadowrun: Hong Kong Extended Edition – PS5, PS4
  • Moonscars – PS5, PS4
  • Gigabash – PS5, PS4
  • Grime – PS5, PS4
  • Prodeus – PS5, PS4
  • Mega Man 11 – PS4
  • Mega Man Legacy Collection – PS4
  • Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 – PS4
  • Thrillville – PS5, PS4
  • Thrillville: Off the Rails – PS5, PS4
  • Buzz Lightyear of Star Command – PS5, PS4

As you can see, it’s quite a lot of games to dig into, especially well-known titles that make the increased cost of the higher-tiered subscription worth it. Compared to the free monthly titles of the standard tier, there are some standout additions that you should check out right away.

Most notable of all is GTA 5, letting you play through the blockbuster single-player story and the popular GTA Online multiplayer mode that’s still thriving all these years on. While we imagine nearly everyone has at least tried GTA 5 to see if they like it at this point, it’s certainly one to play through ahead of GTA 6. Even outside of planning ahead for its sequel, Rockstar’s GTA 5 is one of the best games of all time even today.

The fun doesn’t stop there though, as Team Ninja’s unique take on the Final Fantasy series, Stranger of Paradise, will also be available. While it’s a departure from the series norm, it’s a popular entry in the tried and true franchise that’s worth checking out at no extra cost, whether you’re a fan of the series or not.

There’s also a handful of excellent indies that shouldn’t go under your radar. Metal: Hellsinger, Salt and Sacrifice, Tinykin, and the Shadowrun series are all incredible adventures that will soon be available through PS Plus, making them more accessible than ever. Aside from Shadowrun, these are generally smaller adventures that can slot in between your time planning multiplayer heists and speeding through Los Santos in GTA 5.

Though the PS Plus Extra and Premium games for December 2023 aren’t exactly new PS5 games, each one stands to raise the bar and give you plenty of excellent games to enjoy over the holidays. The only thing that could make this lineup better is being able to enjoy it using one of the best PS5 controllers on the market.
